Christian stared at Myles, but couldn’t find words to respond to all he’d just heard. They’d eaten a huge breakfast, but Myles refused to speak about Baz until afterward. Now they sat on the couch in the living room. Myles had turned on the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree, put on soft music, then relayed his entire conversation with Baz and Nolan last night. And Christian was having trouble digesting it all.

“Say something.” Myles frowned. “You all right?”

“So that thing that happened to me at the cabin last night...what I felt. That was Baz’s...climax? Going through me?”

“I’m not sure if it was an actual orgasm on his part. I mean...physically. Meaning I’m not sure it was the same as what he does with other hybrids during actual sex. But you got to feel some of it, yes.”

“So...that’s what I felt. Baz’s feelings for me. His...” Christian winced. “Sexual feelings about me.”

Myles nodded. “It’s weird, I know. But yes. That’s what you felt.”

“Damn.” Christian chuckled and shook his head. “Can’t believe he feels that way about me. I mean, holy shit.”

“Pretty powerful, huh?”

Myles’ blue eyes held something raw, and Christian realized he had to be cautious of his boyfriend’s feelings regarding this. Shit, this would make anyone insecure and unsettled. And Myles was handling it with grace, maturity, and compassion. Taking Myles’ hand in his, Christian said, “It was just a physical response. There was no heart in it, Myles. No connection to Baz, or anyone else. I didn’t feel Baz while it was happening. Just the sensations.”

“I know. I’m not worried about any of that. Only about you, and how you feel.”

“I feel fine. And in love. With you. I’m just sorry this is going to cause problems for the team. I should never have gone over there last night.”

“Don’t take that onto yourself. I’m sure Ogden will find plenty for you to do that doesn’t involve meeting with alien hybrids.” Myles smiled.

Christian leaned in and kissed him, happy to see that gorgeous dimpled smile. “I’m crazy about you. Have I told you that lately?”

Myles wrapped a hand around Christian’s neck and pulled him in again, kissing him soft and deep. “Yes,” he whispered as he eased back from the kiss. “But you can keep telling me, anytime you want.”

Christian turned his head when Myles frowned at something over his shoulder. “She got one,” Myles said.

“Dammit, Cuervo!” His dog had taken advantage of their distraction, sneaked in and pulled one of the candy canes off the Christmas tree. She looked guiltily at Christian, shuffling back a pace, but kept the candy cane clamped in her teeth.

“Put it down!” Christian shouted. “Fucking dog.”

“Hey.” Myles frowned and touched Christian’s shoulder. “Take it easy.”

“She knows she’s not supposed to eat those.”

“She’s a dog, and she’s not used to you yelling at her like that. What the hell’s the matter with you?”

“You’re right.” Christian took a deep breath. “Cuervo, come here, babygirl.”

Cuervo huffed, danced a circle, then faced him again. She dropped the candy cane, then immediately picked it up again.
